Syrian cameraman Omar Abdel Qader, 26, was killed March 8 while covering fighting between government and rebel forces in the eastern city of Deir al-Zor. Reuters reported that he was working for a Beirut-based television channel, Al-Mayadeen. Al-Mayadeen, citing a Syrian military official, reported that Abdel Qader was hit by sniper fire while filming a government assault on the city.
