Funding opportunities for journalism

A number of tech platforms, media foundations and others are making funding available to help manage the COVID-19 shock to the media business.

  •  IJ4EU fund opens new calls for cross-border investigative journalism in Europe. The IJ4EU fund supports cross-border investigations of public interest. In 2020, IJ4EU is providing one million euros in direct support to watchdog journalism. Apply now!

  • Google’s Journalism Emergency Relief Fund will support small- and mid-sized newsrooms employing between 2-100 full time employees. It will review applications on a rolling basis ahead of the April 29th deadline.

  • The Facebook Journalism Project is investing to support the news media industry in North America through the COVID-19 Community Network grant program

  • Meanwhile our friends at the European Journalism Centre have launched the three million USD European Journalism COVID-19 Journalism Relief Fund to support community, local and regional European news organisations. It will prioritise grants for small and medium-sized news organisations supporting the communities most affected by the crisis
