Russian state-funded media network RT said correspondent Khaled Alkhateb, 25, died on July 30, 2017 while reporting on Syrian Army operations against the Islamic State group near the town of Sukhna, in the eastern part of the province of Homs. Alkhateb, who had recently started working with RT Arabic, was reportedly killed in a rocket attack by Islamic State group militants.
