Dilshan Ibash, Syria

One Kurdish journalist was killed and another suffered fatal injuries when two Islamic State group militants carried out suicide car bomb attacks targeting civilians in the eastern Syrian village of Abu Fas on Oct. 12, 2017. Dilshan Ibash (Dilîşan Îbiş) died in the blasts and Hawker Mohammed (Hogir Mihemed) died of severe head injuries the next day in a hospital. They were present for the Hawar News Agency, which is affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces, covering displacement of civilians. At least 15 others were killed in the blasts and 100 people injured, including a third Hawar journalist, Rizgar Deniz.
