Senior Pakistani journalist Aftab Alam was shot and killed outside his home in Karachi on Sept. 9, 2015. Alam, who had worked with Geo News and Samaa TV, was reportedly behind the wheel of his car and had dropped his children off at home when two men on a motorbike targeted him. He suffered multiple injuries to his head, neck and chest and was declared dead after being rushed to a hospital. A police official said that the incident “appears to be a case of target killing”. The shooting came one day after unidentified gunmen opened fire on a Geo News van in the Bahadurabad area, killing Arshad Ali Jaffri, a senior technical engineer, and wounding a driver.
