As part of its state of emergency to tackle COVID-19, the Spanish government suspends deadlines for public bodies to respond to Freedom of Information (FOI) requests. Access to publicly held information is a key tool for journalists reporting on the pandemic. On April 23, 31 different Spanish civil society organisations, all members of the Coalición Pro Acceso, called on the government to guarantee journalist’s right access to information.
