Next Television reporters questioned over war reporting in Kyrgyzstan

Two journalists for NEXT television in Kyrgyzstan were questioned by the country’s State Committee for National Security over a report on the war in Ukraine. Officials alleged that the report that was aired may have incited interethnic hatred. In the report, the interviewee claimed there was an agreement between Russia and Kyrgyzstan to send troops to Ukraine to support the invasion. A few days previously, Next television’s chief editor Taalai Duishembiev was sentenced to two months in pre-trial detention over a report quoting the former chief of Committee of National Security of Kazakhstan Alnur Musaev. According to the quote Kyrgysztan and Tajikistan had agreed to support the war and send troops.
