Journalist charged in five cases related to COVID-19 reporting in India

Five FIRs were registered against journalist Ashwani Saini in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. On 8 April 2020, Ashwani Saini, who contributes video reports for the Facebook page Mandi Live and freelances for Dainik Jagran, was booked under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 54 of the Disaster Management Act for reporting on the failure of the administration to supply rations to migrant workers in Himachal Pradesh amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
