Djalma Santos da Conceição, also known as Djalma Batata, was found dead near the town of Conceição da Feira in Bahia state, Brazil on May, 23, 2015. Santos, 54, hosted a programme on the community radio station RCAm where he was known for covering crime and politics. According to media reports, he had recently been investigating the murder of a teenager by a trafficking gang. Santos is reported to have been kidnapped the evening of May 22; Santos was forced into a car by three men near a local bar. He was found the next day, having been shot multiple times and apparently tortured, with his tongue having been cut in half and his right eye gouged out.
