Álvaro Alfredo Aceituno López, director of the local radio station Radio Ilusión, was shot multiple times by unknown assailants on the street where his radio station is located in the city of Coatepeque on June 25, 2016. He was rushed to a hospital where he died later the same day. The motive for the shooting remains unclear.
