Sultan Mahmoud Khirkhwa, 60,a journalist for a private television station Zaman, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in the eastern province of Khost. An affiliate of the Islamic State claimed responsibility for the killing in a statement issued on March 17. However the statement does not mention the reason for the murder.
