Television host and radio news journalist Juan Carlos Huerta was shot dead in Villahermosa, the capital of southern Tabasco state in Mexico on May 15, 2018. Huerta was driving away from his house, when the road was blocked with a couple of vehicles and armed individuals opened fire towards Huerta, who died behind the wheel. The state governor Arturo Núñez said that the killing wasn’t a robbery, but appeared to be planned and possibly linked to Huerta’s work as a journalist. Huerta was general director at radio station Sin Reservas, and also a host for a television program at Canal 9. The motive of the murder is still unknown. The attack came on the first anniversary of the murder of another Mexican journalist, Javier Valdez.
