Ueliton Bayer Brizon was shot dead in Cacoal city, in the state of Rondônia, Brazil, on January 16, 2018. Brizon was driving his wife to work on their motorcycle, when another man on a motorcycle approached them and shot Bayer Brizon several times. He died on the way to hospital. The wife was not injured in the assault. Brizon owned local news site Jornal de Rondônia, where he also worked as a reporter. He was also a member and deputy councilman of the Humanist Solidarity Party. Police is investigating whether the murder was connected to his work as a journalist.
