Two armed assailants shot and killed blogger Luís Gustavo da Silva on the morning of June 14, 2017 outside his home in Aquiraz, in north-eastern Brazil. The blogger, also known as “Gugu”, had just returned home with his wife on a motorcycle when the assailants, who were lying in wait, opened fire, killing him immediately. Da Silva reportedly had blogged earlier that day about the death of a young man in the town, promising to release more information. The motive or identities of the shooters remains unclear.
