Three freelance journalists were killed on May 26, 2017 in Taiz, in south-western Yemen, while covering clashes between rebels and pro-government forces. Local sources said that Anwar Al Absi, Taqi Al Deen Al Hothaifi and Sa’ad Al Nadhari were killed in shelling by Houthi rebels, who they accused of having deliberately targeted the journalists. Two other freelance journalists, Waleed Al Qadasi and Salah Al Deen Al Wahbai, were also injured.
