IPI is changing! Welcome to the new home of the global network for media freedom.

We’re very excited to share our updated website, just in time for our annual World Congress and 65th General Assembly in Doha, Qatar (March 19-21, 2016 – be sure to follow the livestream here!).

Take a look around! Our new site is about a new look, but it’s also a chance for our audience – anyone interested in media freedom and human rights – to get to know us better.

With our new online home, we’re aiming to amplify our global work in defence of media freedom and the free flow of news and thereby make sure that IPI’s voice is being heard. Just as important, we’re making our monitoring, advocacy, events and programme activities more clear and accessible so we can grow and strengthen the partnerships needed for change.

You might notice that certain sections of our site are not yet active. That’s because we’ll be rolling out additional pages over the next few weeks. You’ll also probably come across a few mistakes on the site here and there as we tweak things. So please be patient with us – we hope you’ll agree that it was worth the wait!

In the meantime, may want to visit ipi.freemedia.at, which contains all the content from our previous site. We’ll be fully migrating that content – our media freedom monitoring and advocacy – in the coming weeks and months.

On the new site, you’ll find an advanced search function covering our years of past monitoring work, opening up a vast resource for journalists, researchers and interested members of the public. You’ll also find more information about our ongoing project to digitise our archive of material on media freedom dating back to our founding in 1950.

Note that all new content we publish will appear only on our new site.

While our website and face have changed one thing has not: our mission to protect media freedom and the free flow of news wherever they are threatened. That’s what spurred IPI’s founding more than 65 years ago and that’s what motivates IPI and its members in nearly 100 countries today.

Finally, a big thanks to our members, partners and supporters around the world. It’s because of you that IPI can continue to do its work.
