Naveen Nishchal died in a hit-and-run collision in Bhojpur, eastern India on Sunday 25, 2018. Journalist for a major Hindu newspaper Danik Bhaskar, Nishchal, and his associate Vijay Singh were riding the same motorbike, when an SUV rammed into their bike. Both of the motorbike riders died in the collision. The driver of the SUV, a local former village chief fled the accident scene, and local people set the SUV on fire. Police is investigating the case as a murder, and they have arrested the former village chief. According to Nishchal’s brother, the journalist had had an argument with the former village chief the day before, and he alleges the collision was intentional.
