According to local and international reports, police in Honduras have found the remains of the popular television journalist Anibal Barrow, who was kidnapped last month outside of San Pedro Sula.
Honduran police chief Juan Bonilla said that officers found clothing that Barrow was seen wearing on the day of his kidnapping. They also found a bank account booklet in his name near a partially buried, headless torso in the northern city of Villanueva. Bonilla said that the evidence pointed to the body belonging to Barrow. Four people have thus far been arrested in connection with the murder. Bonilla said that police are also looking for six other suspects.
The International Press Institute sends its sincere condolences to the family, friends, and co-workers of Anibal Barrow and urges Honduran authorities to thoroughly investigate this horrendous crime and to bring those responsible to justice.
