On 10 May 2022, the website of the Institute of Mass Information (IMI), a Kyiv-based NGO reporting on violations of media rights in Ukraine, was targeted in a “serious” hacker attack, according to the group. The website went offline for three hours after a DDoS attack on its servers. IMI said it linked the incident to its activities in general, and more spefically to one of its collaborators recently participating in a protest in Warsaw, during which activists poured fake blood on the Russian ambassador to Poland. The institute said it was attacked by hackers several time since the beginning of Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine, but that this was the most serious incident to date.
