On 12 April 2022, Vechirnye Rivne (“Evening Rivne”), a website based in the Rivne region of Ukraine, said it suffered 249 cyber attacks since the beginning of Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine. An important share of these attacks came from Russia, said the website’s editor-in-chief Bohdan Slonets. Most often, hackers tried to upload viruses to the site or targeted it in denial-of-service or DDoS attacks, he said. Slonets added that attacks often took place when the site published news on the danger of an attack on Ukraine from Belarus.
