On 27 May 2022, Russia’s internet regulator Roskomnadzor sent a letter to “Sim’ya i Dim” (“Family and House”), a conservative portal based in Ukraine’s Volyn region, informing that its website was blocked in Russia. The reason for the decision was an article published by Sim’ya i Dim in the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion, which provided readers with instructions on preparing Molotov cocktails in case Russian troops appeared near their homes. It was not immediately clear why the website was blocked only two months after the article was published.
