The governor described Ruiz as irresponsible and highlighted that the reporter disrespected the relatives of the deceased. The governor of Venezuela’s Delta Amacuro state, Lizeta Hernández, verbally attacked and insulted journalist José Gregorio Ruiz for posting images on Facebook that showed the transfer of a COVID-19 victim to a local morgue. The governor accused the journalist of acting irresponsibly and committing an act of “idiocy” and “mongolism”, a term which means Down’s syndrome.
