Unknown culprits spray paint anti-Ukraine message on home of independent journalists

On 27 April 2022, journalists Yekaterina Malysheva and her husband Yevgeni Malyshev said unknown culprits left a spray painted anti-Ukraine message on the gate to their house in the Russian city of Penza in an apparent intimidation attempt. The message said: “here live accomplices of Ukro-Nazis”. The culprits also wrote the letter “Z”, used by Russian authorities to promote the war the Ukraine, on the gate and on the couple’s car. Malyshev works for inter-regional news site 7×7, while his wife reports for Takiye Dela, an independent online project focused on social issues. The couple said they had reported the case to police.
