Ukraine sanctions 119 journalists and cultural figures for supporting Russia’s invasion

On 7 January 2023, president Zelensky sanctioned 119 cultural figures for allegedly justifying Russia’s war on Ukraine. This included top journalists at pro-Kremlin media, such as the head of the Rossiya Segodnya media group Dmitry Kiselev and the head of RT Margarita Simonyan. The measures include freezing all assets in Ukraine, blocking all financial operations and cultural exchanges, banning any economic or other activity in Ukraine, removal of all awards attributed by the state and a ban on entering the country.
