Sota.Vision journalists arrested and harassed

Multiple journalists from Russian media outlet Sota.Vision were detained or harassed since March 7. On March 17, law enforcement searched the home of Sota.Vision journalist Elena Izotova in the city of Kazan and her technical equipment was seized. On March 18, Sota.Vision journalists Ruslan Terekhov, Artyom Kriger, and Aleksandr Filippov were detained in Moscow and St. Petersburg ahead of planned rallies. Terekhov was sentenced to ten days of administrative detention and other journalists were released without charge. On March 23, Russian Investigative Committee operatives searched the home of Sota.Vision editor Darya Poryadina in the north-western city of Arkhangelsk. Poryadina and her boyfriend journalist Aleksandr Peskov were held for more than 12 hours at the Investigative Committee’s Arkhangelsk office after the search. She was released her after she signed a non-disclosure agreement. Sota.Vision freelance contributor Aleksandr Peskov was briefly detained on March 25. He was released after he was designated as a suspect in an investigation for allegedly insulting law enforcement. He could face a fine of up to 40,000 rubles (415 EUR) or up to one year of corrective labour.
