On 13 April 2025, several media offices in Sumy were damaged as a result of a Russian strike on the city centre of Sumy, a regional capital in northeastern Ukraine. No media workers were wounded.
Dmytro Tishchenko, the editor-in-chief of local media outlet Cukr, said that the outlet’s office sustained ‘minor damage’ as a result of the strike. Photos of the premises published by Tishchenko showed that some windows at the office were shattered, while the ceiling sustained minor damage. Some objects at the office also fell over due to the impact from the blast.
The nearby Sumy Press Club was also damaged, with windows shattered at its premises. Alona Yatsyna, the director and co-founder of Kordon.Media, another local outlet in Sumy, said that a photo exhibition organised by Kordon.Media had been damaged in the attack on the Sumy Press Club.
