Russian troops temporarily seized the editorial office of local media company PRO100 in the south-eastern Ukrainian city of Berdyansk. Soldiers detained a group of about 50 journalists in an office belonging to PRO100 and tried to persuade them to broadcast Russian propaganda. The troops asked them to collaborate with the Russian army and broadcast their messages about the invasion, according to those reports and a statement by Sergiy Tomilenko, head of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine. According to media, journalists refused and were eventually allowed to leave. Alexander Starukh, the head of the Zaporozhye regional military administration, said: “Journalists in Berdyansk are being forced to broadcast Russian propaganda on the radio. At gunpoint.” In a statement on Facebook at the time, PRO100 said: “At the moment in the building of the information group PRO100 – armed Russian military have seized about 50 editorial staff. Our guys are not let out. Have no connection with them! The Russian Federation propaganda broadcasts on the radio. Sniper on the roof.”
