On 8 November 2025, a fibre-optic FPV (first-person view) drone operated by Russian forces struck an armoured vehicle belonging to the Ukrainian NGO Proliska near Kostiantynivka, in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region. Two foreign journalists, Austrian correspondent Christian Wehrschütz of ORF and Spanish journalist María Senovilla of El Español, were inside the vehicle at the time. Neither of them were injured. The vehicle sustained significant damage. The crew was en route to film an evacuation of civilians from Kostiantynivka when the strike occurred.

Wehrschütz described how the drone hovered over a fibre-optic line near the vehicle and exploded shortly after he and his colleagues exited the car. He called the incident a “near-miss” and emphasised the continuing danger for media professionals working in frontline areas of Ukraine.
