Journalist Fran Sevilla from Radio Nacional de Espana (RNE), along with a Brazilian journalist and their driver were caught under fire from Russian shelling. The reporting crew were south of city of Zaporizhzhia on their way to the occupied coastal city of Mariupol when Russian artillery shell exploded close to their car. The car was damaged, but none of the people inside were injured, apart of a small scratch from the glass. The three left the car and waited under cover for the artillery fire to stop after which they quickly left the area. Their car had visible PRESS signs on all sides. At the time the shell hit the vehicle, the two journalists and the driver were at a road junction where the last Ukrainian defence position was located. In a video, Sevilla explained that it was impossible to ascertain whether Russian forces were deliberately firing at them, even though the vehicle had a sign on it indicating that they were journalists.
