On 28 June 2022, authorities in Kyiv said Russian security services attempted to hack a number of Ukrainian TV channels ahead of celebrations of Constitution Day in Ukraine. The speaker of the Security Services of Ukraine (SBU) said hackers targeted channels of the so-called “national TV marathon”, a project of several Ukrainian media who jointly broadcast common news programs to viewers. The hackers attempted to gain access to TV broadcasts, online news feeds and some of the individual computers used by the channels’ journalists. The SBU speaker, Artem Dekhtyarenko, said the service managed to prevent all attempts from succeeding.
