On March 11, two officers of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) and a magistrate’s court sheriff assaulted journalist Kesselee Sumo, who works for the privately owned Radio Fuamah in Bong Mine Community, central Liberia. The incident followed a broadcast of Sumo’s program “What’s happening in your community,”. Reports indicate that the journalist may have been assaulted on the order of the Associate Magistrate Lydia Sulunteh, whom he had interviewed over the detention of two chiefs at the Bongmines police depot. Due to the assault, Sumo sustained injuries and was hospitalized overnight to receive medical attention.
