On 22 February 2026, the editorial office of the local newspaper Nashe Zhyttia in the village of Novomykolayivka, Zaporizhia region, was damaged as a result of a Russian aerial strike using guided bombs.

Editor Kateryna Zavarzina, who spoke to Ukraine’s Institute of Mass Information (a local media NGO), said that the newsroom, which was located in the building of the settlement council, was effectively destroyed. The attack took place on Sunday at 10:15 a.m. As it occurred over the weekend, no staff members were present and no injuries were reported. The strike caused severe damage to the newsroom premises: windows and doors were blown out, walls and furniture were damaged, and the interior was covered with shattered glass. No fire broke out, and the editorial equipment survived.

Zavarzina said that the team is searching for a temporary place to work and trying to save its equipment and archives. The newsroom is also considering relocating to Zaporizhia, although the editor said that this decision would be “difficult” to make.
