The logo and brand of Ukrainian newspaper Azov Worker, which ceased publishing due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, was used by Russian forces in occupied territory to spread pro-Russian propaganda. The use of the brand was reported on Facebook by the newspaper’s editor-in-chief, Olena Kalaitan. She said “fresh issues” of the newspaper were being printed again without its authorisation. She stressed the Mariupol-based newspaper and its staff has nothing to do with the new content being published under its name and logo. The Azov Worker was last published on February 23. According to Kalaitan, the editorial office in Mariupol survived, but everything in the building was destroyed and looted. She said occupying forces removed memory cards, hard drives and other equipment and were using the newspaper’s editorial template.
