Journalist detained for ‘discrediting the army”

Journalist Evgenyi Levkovich was detained in Moscow on suspicion of “discrediting the army.” The journalist said on Facebook that police came to his house and took him to a police station. He was detained under the article “public actions aimed at discrediting the use of the armed forces of the Russian Federation in order to protect the interests of the Russian Federation and its citizens, maintain international peace and security, or exercise the powers of the state bodies of the Russian Federation for these purposes,” He was released without charge from the Tyoply Stan police station after a few hours of questioning. Media reported that the likely reason for his detention was his posts on social media. Levkovich has collaborated with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.
