Artur Asafiev, a correspondent of Russian media outlet Idea.Realii, was added to the list of “foreign agents” by Russian Ministry of Justice. The blacklisting meant Asafiev had to report his expenses and income to authorities on a regular basis and mark all his public writing or messages with a text warning it had been written by a “foreign agent”. Asafiec has previously collaborated with Radio Free Liberty and Novaya Gazeta among others, and in 2021 had produced a documentary film “Battle for Kushtau”. The Independent Trade Union of Journalists and Media Workers in Bashkiria strongyl criticised the blacklisting.
