On 11 December 2024, Hromadske Radio editor-in-chief Victoria Yermolayeva Yermolayeva reported that nine broadcasting towers operated by Hromadske Radio had been destroyed or captured by Russian occupying forces since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, making their use by the outlet impossible. According to Yermolayeva, who spoke to Ukraine’s Institute of Mass Information (IMI), a Ukrainian press freedom group, all of the captured broadcasting towers are located on the front line or are already in the occupied territories. They are located in the settlements of Zorynivka, Lysychansk, Volnovakha, Mariupol, Bilolutsk, Bilovodsk, Starobilsk, Bakhmutivka, and Pokrovsk, in Ukraine’s Luhansk and Donetsk regions.
