Ecuador police official sues journalist over critical comments on health measures for police

Ecuador’s national police chief, Fabián Santiago Salas Duarte, brought a suit against La Posta co-founder Anderson Boscán for comments criticizing the lack of health protections provided to the national police. Boscán had tweeted that police officers were seriously exposed to the virus and were given insufficient protective measures. The police chief sued Boscán for violating privacy according to Article 178 of the Criminal Code, accusing the journalist of discrediting and dishonoring the police on Twitter.
