Turkey’s Press Advertising Agency issued a 3-day ad ban on the newspaper BirGün on Dec 22 over an article titled “[they] Can Do Anything with the Coronavirus Excuse” regarding a local court’s order to block access to news reporting on the illegal construction on rental land by Presidency Communications Director Fahrettin Altun on a historical site near the Istanbul Bosphorus. The article reported that the court order cited “fighting the pandemic” as an excuse to issue the block order.
