On 1 March 2022, a court in Krasnoyarsk fined local journalist Mariya Antyusheva 30,000 rubles for allegedly “discrediting” the Russian Armed Forces. According to media reports, police came to hand her the administrative offence notice at the newsroom of NGS24, the outlet Antyusheva works for. A local court later confirmed the fine. The journalists was reportedly fined for a series of social media posts, however it was unclear what exactly authorities had considered “discreditation” of the Russian army. On 30 May, a court of appeals cancelled Antyusheva’s fine, however she said she had already paid the amount demanded, as she did not believe the initial court decision would be reviewed.
