As the votes of the municipal elections closed on October 11, 2023, the internet was disrupted across the country. According to reports, as of the time the votes were closing, around 6pm, the access to the internet on the main mobile internet service provider, Movitel, was distorted. It was not clear what was the cause of the internet blackout though it was restored around 9 pm on the same day. However, the internet disruption rendered it difficult to find or share information online about the results of the elections after polling stations had closed.
