Antoine Galindo, a journalist of the online news outlet Africa Intelligence (AI), was arrested on February 22, 2024, at the Ethiopia Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa. He was arrested by plainclothes security officers while interviewing Bate Urgessa, a political officer of the political party Oromo Liberation Front (OLF).Galindo was accused of conspiracy to create chaos in the country with two armed groups. However, he was released on February 29 as a result of mounting pressure on the authorities from press defense groups, and calls for his release.
