Radio journalist David Díaz was killed while on board a helicopter that crashed in the town of San Marcos, southeast of the capital San Salvador, on March 14, 2014. Díaz was attempting to cover the second stage of La Vuelta Ciclista a El Salvador, a celebrated cycling event that takes place in the Central American nation every year, VeloNews.com reported. Díaz, 31, was a radio presenter and director of the radio program Radio Fiesta, broadcast by Grupo Radio Estéreo.
