Luis Peralta Cuellar, director of the radio station Linda Stereo, was murdered on Feb. 14, 2015 near his home in the town of El Doncello in an attack that also wounded his wife. Peralta had reported receiving death threats and was the target of an attempted bombing in 2010. Colleagues said they believed the attack was related to his reporting on corruption. Peralta, 63, had also recently announced his candidacy to become mayor of El Doncello. Police in early March 2015 said they had apprehended a suspect in the attack.
