Radio Baidoa producer Daud Ali Omar was shot in his home on April 29, 2015 in Baidoa, northwest of Mogadishu. Armed assailants broke into Omar’s home in the middle of the night and fatally shot him and his wife as they slept. Although no one was initially apprehended or claimed responsibility for the murders, local journalists and the police reportedly suspect the militant insurgent group Al-Shabaab. The privately owned Radio Baidoa covers local politics and news from a pro-government standpoint.
