Taimoor Khan, an assistant cameraman for broadcaster Samaa TV, was killed on Feb. 12, 2017 in Karachi when militants opened fire on a news van in which he was traveling. The shooting was preceded by the militants’ attack on an armoured police vehicle that Khan and colleagues were traveling to cover. Khan, 22, was hit in the head and chest and died of his wounds in a hospital. Police said that the attack on the police vehicle was staged to attract journalists to the area where they could be targeted. The group Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan reportedly claimed responsibility for both attacks.
