Veteran journalist Carlos Domínguez Rodríguez was murdered in the border town of Nuevo Laredo in Tamaulipas, Mexico on January 13, 2018. Domínguez was driving a car through the town with his family when armed men stopped the car and stabbed the journalist to death. His family members were unharmed. Domínguez worked as a columnist, writing about national and local politics. The authorities are investigating if the murder was related to Domínguez’s work.
