Jupiter Gonzales, 52, a columnist for a tabloid, Renate, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Arayat town in Pampanga on October 20. Christopher Tiongson, who was in the car with the columnist, died on the spot while Gonzales died in the hospital. Gonzales was a fierce critic of illegal mining in the area. Police are investigating the murder.
