The International Press Institute (IPI), in partnership with the European Foundation for Democracy (EFD) and with the kind support of the Consulate General of Sweden in Istanbul, will bring three well-respected independent journalists from Turkey to Brussels on Dec. 6, 2017 for a discussion at the European Parliament on “Turkey: How the EU can support press freedom and uphold democracy”.

The journalists will examine what role the EU can and should play to support media freedom in Turkey and the fundamental right of journalists and everyone in the country to freely share and receive information.

The discussion, moderated by IPI Executive Director Barbara Trionfi, will take place from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the European Parliament. The event is being hosted by Greek MEP Miltiadis Kyrkos of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament.
