Sagal Salad Osman, a journalist and a producer of a children’s television programme for the state-controlled Somali National Television (SNTV), was shot dead in a restaurant on June 5, 2016 after leaving her University’s campus in Banadir Junction in Mogadishu’s Hodan district. According to eyewitnesses, she was shot by two armed assailants. The motive for the shooting remains unclear.
