Marcel Lubala, a journalist for the state-owned Radio Télévision Nationale Congolaise, was killed on Nov. 15, 2016 when a group of armed men in military uniforms stormed his residence, where Lubala’s wife and children were also present, in Mbuji-Mayi. The men shot Lubala three times as he tried to escape. The motive for the killing remains unclear.
